Hi,
We have just had a tiler do a terrible job of tiling our bathrooms. We are looking for ways to hide it and we hoping to put glass spachbacks on some areas of the wall.
My question is if the wall is uneven can it be done ? The wall seems to drop in and then move back out. Pleae help :(
Well if you're not happy with the tiler's job you should take it up with him.
AFAIK, for glass splashbacks the wall needs to be pretty straight.
Your best bet would be to get a splashback supplier to have a look at it for you. They'll soon tell you if it's not straight enough.
Yeah we have taken it up with him and the department of fair trading offers little help. They say to pay him then take him to court.

with the splash backs are these going to go over the tiles or on the wall surface ?
I had a similar problem in my kitchen after i covered the face brick .What i did was .
I covered a piece of flat wood the size of the splash backs in a texture pen .
Then i put it against the wall the high spots got marked by the ink .
Them i hit them with the belt sander .not very conventional but it worked .if they still stick out there is always no more gaps .....

How big an area?
What is actually wrong with the tilers work as it seems the original work putting the wall in may have been sub standard. (is it the wall causing the problem or have they just done a crappy job tiling?)
We put a glass splashback in our kitchen, best thing out.
Probably look at the two issues seperately
1/. the tiling
2/. talk to a splashback company to see if they can install, they'll soon tell you if the wall is straight enough.
Why on earth would you pay him and then take him to court? :? Just don't pay him, and let him take you to court (if he wants to). You can then make a counter-claim for what it will cost you to get the job done properly.Quote:

Tilers are not meant to build up the substrate with glue to get it plumb.
