Hi
Looking at putting a couple partitions in the office, I'm trying to same some time and was wondering if you can get prefab stud walls to size ?
All I would need to do is bolt them to the slab, plaster and done :2tsup:
Thanks

Most truss manufacturers would be able to supply them.

A lot of houses are built using prefab frames, so the answer is yes. But getting them into an existing building (through the doors etc,) may be a problem:doh:. Also, the order may be too small. Actually, it would probably be cheaper to DIY:;

It sounds like it's only a small job. If you're going to plaster it yourself just get metal stud and track from the plasterboard supplier. Not hard to put together with tin snips and a screw gun.
If you're real laid back, just look for a competent handyman to do the whole job.
I never thought of this.
I am about to extend on my house about 6 building squares
couple of room etc
So, could i send the plans to someone and get the walls pre made?
Is it cheaper that way than to get a builder to do it on site?
sorry to hijack your thread nic
It's usually cheaper to get your walls and roof trusses pre fab, unless it's a small job. For a renovation they'd give you a quote off the plans, but you'd have to be sure that your dimensions were right, or you'd be better of getting a rep out to measure on-site. It's their problem if there are any stuff ups then. :wink:
I went through a timber yard that did trusses and gave them an entire materials list up front. That way they quote me a good price to do the frames and supply nails, other timber, insulation etc. AND stored it ... so all I had to do was call up and request the next lot of stuff when I was ready for it.
