Building an office
Hey guys,
I'm going to tackle this project with a mate. I wanted to know what size timber to use for this bearing wall? Also the spacing of the studs? The wall will be 12metres wide and 2.4 metres high. There will be a sliding doors in the middle 3 metres wide. The roof will be 12 metres wide and 5 metres long (from the back wall to this load bearing wall).
Also for the roof can I use timber bearer or will I need to construct trusses. For either option have far apart should we construct them The roof will be lined with plaster from the under side. I'd like to also to be able to walk on the roof in the future although that won't be finished as part of this project.
The side and back walls are concrete walls. I plan to rest the roof on the back wall by dyna bolting in some angle steel and having it rest on this and then screwed into place so it doesn't move.
I've done a quick drawing to represent what I mean. Any help appreciated or if someone can point me to a book with basic designs for this kind of loading.
Cheers
