Noel, I have seen people use the smaller chainsaws, particularly the electric ones, one-handed:oo: .

I have one of those small GMC jobbies, great for cutting firewood into manageable blocks of about 12" long, very quiet and no pollution, can even do it in the shed when it rains.
But using it one-handed:no: .

Probably the most common hand cut is when the short bit of wood is not keeping still so the left hand comes off the handle to steady the wood and the saw bounces onto the hand. The only time the left hand should really come of the handle is to disengage the brake.
