Its bad enough getting spam on yer pc or phone.
But we even cop spam faxes.
The latest one's from DELL
They give an opt out by calling them on the phone
Why should I spend money to avoid getting unwanted crap.
Just about to log into their website and send an offensive email and I noticed a notebook for $699 with vista loaded (XP optional)
I might think it over a bit before I give em a serve

Blame Telstra - they sell lists of all known fax numbers to fax spammers. If you complain about this, they have the gall to demand payment not to sell your personal details to the spammers.
Make a loop of paper with "please dont do this anymore" about a meter long. Make sure you tape it so it is square. Send it to them on a Friday afternoon, late. If you do it correctly it should run all weekend.
Works for those cheap weekend spammers where they have a return fax,

I have a neat bit of software with my old HP OfficeJet fax at work that you can train to block faxes, when it recognises a SPAM fax, it happily receives it, wasting the dork's money, & then throws it in the bin without printing it. :D
The only catch is that my PC has to be on at the time but I leave it running 24/7 anyway & then I can use 'Logmein' to check e-mails & faxes remotely. :2tsup:

A great idea, but only one problem, most fax machines with factory default settings wont send or accept long faxes. From memory the default length of page setting for most fax machines is less than 1 metre. Used to encounter this problem when trying to fax in wireline log prints from the oil rigs to the client office. To get around the problem requires dicking with the software settings on sending and receiving fax machines.Quote:

Your phone rings at 11:45 one night, thinking it could only be some sort of emergency family thing you jump bolt upright out off bed and pick up the phone - a fricking fax!
15 minutes later, the same thing. Go down to the office the next morning and it's some :censored2: who has faxed you about the greatest holiday of a lifetime offer. :((
I get Dell, :censored2: off, I use Macs, printer cartridge faxes and holiday ones. Some have phone numbers to ring so I leave a not so friendly message.
I'm thinking about throwing the fax in the bin, except I occasionally get faxes from some clients.
Send multiple black pages so that it chews up their cartridges.
dunno I reckon multiple endless loops would be more fun
Is it possible to send faxes via skype? So you can tie up their fax line without needing to pay a multitude of call fees?
Probably not... no HW handshaking. Ah well, 'twas just a thought...
What about a pc fax program so it just continually sends the same fax

A bloke in Cairns had problems with a 4WD & after heaps of trips to the dealer under warranty, it still had the problem when the warranty ran out & then they wouldn't fix it for free any more.
He had a sign writer put a message on the canopy that said he wished he had bought a {notherbrand} instead & parked it on the main road right in front of their dealership, locked it up & left it there.
The dealers had to work out who owned it, not hard from the service history, contact him & get him back & make some arrangements to have it sorted out.
The problem went away in a hurry. :D
