Fixing post anchors to sloping concrete slab??

Hi All
1st post!! Ive been reading and enjoying the forum for a while so thought was time I joined up.

Planning a timber deck ~3.5x6m using treated pine for posts/bearers/joists, max. height of deck 500mm, not sure on the decking boards yet.
Most of the deck, 2.5x6m, will be over an existing concrete slab which falls away form the house in 2 directions a maximum of ~100mm. Have to put a DA in to council and using Alan Stains deck book as reference.

I was planning on using Pryda type full or half stirrup post anchors fixed to the concrete slab. Can anyone suggest what could be used to sit the posts on to level them before fixing.

You can either

Grind the area for the stirrup base flat

Pack one side of the base with a washer or plastic packer

Chisel the conc flat with a dyna drill

Good luck using the alan staine book as a reference i tried it when i didn't want to get an engineer to spec a deck and council thought it was a great joke...Its not considered rated like Aust Standards 1684 and depending on which edition you bought the charts have been changed to reflect different floor loading requirements .....

The way that bush walk decks are done is with chemical anchors. Drill the holes vertical and chemset in some 12mm threaded rod. Use nuts and washers to level the brackets. Fill under them with some grout/sand cement mix.

Thanks for the info, will look at both options.

Re the Deck book, ive downloaded the treated pine AS1684.2 amendment so I had current spec tables to submit to council etc and just needed some ideas re the design.
Hope that council want laugh too hard at my DA but just trying to save a bit on the deck and will get someone in to do the pergola on top.

I found that the Council weren't interested in the structural aspect when assessing the DA!
For my council (Warringah) I now need to take my DA to a private certifier who then wants a structural engineers report on the design, and who will then issue me with a construction certificate and carry out progress inspections. Watch out for a post soon regarding all this.... :-(

Got 2 on the go in Warringah at the moment... Both big reno's with decks etc..... The DA is only to pass the concept of what you are doing ie size shape asthetics and impact on others..... The construction cert takes care of the "how you will build it bit"

Have you got an engineer and certifier yet??

Funny how Warringah doesn't want to do inspections... They will do them but plainly say its cheaper to go elsewhere.. Eastern suburbs is cheaper quite often to use the council
