Ant caping - Replace timber corner posts
The ant caping has gone and some dry rot in the corner posts
The corner posts are about 1.8 meters away from the concrete posts in
either direction
The timber posts extend down to a timber sill on a thin concrete
footing which is only about 50mm above external ground level.
Do I need to prop up the beams and take out the corner post and timber
bottom plate and redo the lot.
Ideally I would like to replace the small concrete foundation with
wider higher deeper besser brick foundation to allow easier termite
visual inspection and weed control and eventually continue the besser
block wall between all the concrete posts. The old construction is
termite heaven.
How far do I go - prop up beams and besser block on the old concrete
footing or take out the lot?
If the besser blocks were to be two high - how much concrete underneath
and should there be iron reinforcing bars through them?
Should I cap the besser blocks with one of those flat ones then the
antcaping - then hardwood timber sill and post.
