4 Blades are RS

Earlier this year I treated myself to a 4 blade shaver (Shick Quadro). Now I only shave twice a week so I have a bit of growth. I wish I hadn't chucked out me old Gillette 3 blade cause the 4 blade just can't hack it. It clogs quickly and easily, is difficult to clear, the blade wants to fall off the handle quite regular, and the blades are about $15 for a 4 pack. It does not give me a smooth clean shave.

I'm gunna have to lash out and get a new 3 blade again... should of done it in the first place.

I use a 2 inch Mortise chisel, you can see from my smooth complexion on my avatar.

Do yourself a favour and ditch those multiblade montrosities. Go to your barber and buy a single blade 'safety razor' - no clogging, no mutilation, no razor rash and probably cheaper too. :2tsup:

If you only shave twice a week, you'd be better off with a whipper-snipper anyway!

Once a week for me and I use one of those 3 bladed cheese graters too. However, any belief that shaving less often makes the blade last longer is ill-founded. When I worked in an office, shaving every day I would go through one blade every one to two weeks. I mistakenly believed that by shaving once a week it would extend the life of the blade to a couple of months at least, however the damn things seem to go blunt on first use.

There was one blade last year that lasted me nearly four months though - that one must've gotten past quality control...

Personally, I use the RO150 on orbital mode with a 24grit pad. For that delicate just shaved feel, I use the random orbital with 1500grit pad. Trad wax for aftershave and you get look after look just walking down the street. Quite embarrassing really. (does for the finger nails as well)

Yes that's her.

I have found that whilst the 2 inch mortise chisel is OK for everyday shaving, if I need to do a more "personal" shave a 5 1/2 Stanley plane iron is best. Whilst some of you may find this disturbing, I find that the occasional back, crack and sack is quite refreshing in summer.:wink:

bout time you guys move into the 21st century and by ya self one of those electric planers , 2 blades , guaranteed not to clog

I use the chainsaw followed by the jointer

DJ I can see the benefit of the chainsaw - fast and efficient but I think SawDust's idea of using an electric planer would give the ultimate smooth shave.
