Got a call one day from the blind dogs society or some such.
They asked for a donation
I told them to respectfully get nicked and hung up.
10 mins later I need to phone my brother in lawand pick up phone.
The connection has not been severed. (did you know a call is not completed until the originator hangs up?)
The "call center" person is not on the line, hes gone off for a cuppa (i assume)
I shouted, whistled, even got the umpires whistle out and blew that in the hope that I might attract some attention for some 15 mins.
He finally came back and hung up before I could give him a serve.
Listen for the "gap of silence" which heralds an automatic dialer. This gap occors as the call is transferred from the dialler to an operator. when we hear the "gap" we just hang up.
We dont get that many calls anymore.
I recently had a few months off work. Was I surprised how many of these calls come thru during the day :oo: - and that was only the times I was not making noise in the shed, unable to hear the phone.
