Hi guys,
Last month I started couple of threads asking for ideas and how-to's...

<o></o>This is what I used my Xmas break for. Keep in mind this is my first ever backyard project. I used treated pine 75 mm sleepers and then stained them (1 coat at this stage, after the fence is up, I will give it the 2nd).

And in the area (1.5m wide) where the wall goes right against the fence I will put BBQ.
It looks good, all it needs now is a couple of grands worth of plants behind and some paving or turf infront and you will have a back yard! or is it going to end up like my place a perpetual WIP?
I've never really liked the look of sleepers but they are excellent...
How did you prepare them and what type of stain finish do they have..
Fine looking wall, Leo. Quick work, too. Mine took a whole lot longer.

:C So much on plants?!?! Hmm... maybe not that much - but yes I'd have to finish with nice plants. Turn with water restrictions in stage 3 highly unlikely. I was thinking of gravel/pebbles. Although with my 8 months baby I'd have to have some grass...Quote:

Guys, next step is to squeze in a shed into the area I have created. I opened new thread under sheds. Any, any ideas are very welcome. :)

Would also like to know what stain you used, it came up great!
At this stage it is 1 coat of naturalgrain jarrah. After the new fence is in, I'll give it a second one. It'll be a little bit darker than now.Quote:

P.S. Everyone liked it, and 2 different people asked me to do a similar project for them. I am a computer programmer, maybe there is a career in landscaping for me? :rolleyes:

Ive decided to build a retaining wall as well. Though I'm going to try hardwood. I'll start a mew thread with pics.
