I put down a deposit on one at the Hare and Forbes annual sale,
but have just received a phone call from the Hyundai dealer who is giving the car a last service before warranty runs out, and they've found a major problem:
there are 3 (THREE, count 'em) indicator bulbs which are showing a white light, rather than the regulation orange, so would I like to pay an additional $58.00 to have them changed???:eek:
What should I do ???

Tell them they're the same bulbs you've had since new, and as this is a warranty job, they should replace them for nix.

Kill two birds with one stone - ask H&F to gift wrap the BP-16A in orange cellophane :D
I know bulbs are not covered by warantee, but the bulbs are white (like all incandescent bulbs). It's the lens/reflectors that are the problem here. Therefore I don't see why it wouldn't be warantee. Tell 'em to bugger off or you'll call the head office.
Not completely true, Some of the new cars now come with a clear lens and a coloured bulb.
Got a can of orange spray paint????
$58 for three bulbs would want to be tinted with gold not orange.

Tell em their engineering sux. The dye chosen by the engineers was not fit for the purpose (ie wasn't sufficiently UV proof to even last the warranty period), so it should be a warranty item.
Seen this on a lot of cars around the place, where an indicator has been broken and replaced, and then within a year or two faded completely to white. Absolute $$%##$$%. They should buy quality products from quality companies rather than some lookalike knockoff by engineers with no clue what they are doing.
As a thought - are coloured bulbs available? If so, and they won't fix the problem for free, tell em to jamb the indicators, and replace the bulbs yourself with coloured ones. (Just make sure they are available and will fit!!)
ask them why they sold you a car that doesn't comply with the law.
Tell them if you get booked they will be sued as they sold an unroadworthy car. Ask to see the RWC they provided when first registered.
Two options - may be crap but :-
1. Phone around and see if you can get non-genuine buls elsewhere.
2. Do a google search etc on DIY tinting glass - you may be able to re-colour the existing bulbs.

A coloured texta will do the trick. Many years ago I used them to colour 240 volt 60 wat globes for party lights.Quote:

A quick visit to SuperCheap, and I have at least two options -
bulbs that look silver, but light up orange ($16 for 2), or
orange bulbs ($4 for 2)
I was going to check if they sold orange tint (I know it *used* to be available), but I'm already feeling much calmer, and like I'm back in the real world.
