Saw Blade Channel tune-up

G'day all, - if you are already aware - great - if not - read on,

Last night I changed the blade on my RAS in preparation of a new project. As with most things that blades pass through the channel was a little ragged. An old cabinet maker put me onto this just after I got my saw back in the '80's.

When the groove "wears" you renew it by using "Plastibond" - fill the groove, scrape off the excess before it sets completely, when fully hard - recut the groove. This allows accurate cuts with virtually no chipout and I am only onto my second table top in some 25 years. I have always used plastibond untill last night when I used Septone filler [not the type which is reinforced].

I also plan to use the same technique on the inset plates on the table saw but not necessary as yet as the saw is less than 12 months old and done little work as yet.

Having seen some of the chop - drop - slide saws and the states of their channels perhaps the idea can also be modified for them - if considered necessary - can't really comment as I don't have them - but just a thought for those who do.

Ooh - interesting idea. Like bloody interesting. Wonder if that would work on a Triton workcentre, giving more of a zero-clearance effect.......
