Reo Rust
Hi there
This must have been asked before but I can't seem to find the answer with a search.
What is the normal building practice in terms of rusty reo? I see it at the supply shops and quite often it has a light layer of rust on it. Would a builder normally clean this all off? Is there an easy way or is there an acceptable amount or a coating to stop it causing problems later?
Thanks.

It is normal building practise to have a light layer of rust on the reo.In fact a small amount is said to be benificial to concrete adhersion.Loose rust however, should be removed. There is no need to coat the reo with any product as once it is covered with concrete ,it wont rust any further..provided of coarse that the reo has been completely covered with concrete to about 40mm min external and 20mm min internal ,Hope this has answered your question.
