Help required.

I am about to draw up a set of plans for a new house. It is quite a few years since I have drawn them and have forgotten how to calculate wind pressures and required bracings. Can anyone direct me to a laymen speach calculation chart. Have scanned internet but have to be a professional to understand their methods.:confused:

Have a look in AS 1684.2 Timber Framing Code for non cyclonic areas(if mayborough is non-cyclonic that is). It has it all in there including a simplified method.

I think it would be wise to engage a proffessional to draw up your working drawings. You can design layout elevations etc, but leave the rest up to someone who does it all the time.

Lent, Maryborough is classified as region B as far as wind classification goes.
If you've worked out the topographic & shielding classification & the terrain catagory you'll have come up with a "design wind gust speed"
Look up the corresponding N1, N2, N3 or N4 chart in AS1684.2 to determine the resistance required.
A word of warning. If you get it wrong & document it on the plans you wear it.

You will probably find your certifier will require an egineering certificate for your tiedowns, so bite the bullet and get it done right first time, it will be quicker and you won't worry about loosing your roof etc.
