Dunno any woodwork places in that region, but I think Winchester is well worth visiting. The Cathedral has the longest nave in England, and the view from the tower is worth the climb. The College, which was founded in the 1383, has some interesting ancient buildings, and some medieval furniture.

You mean that you are not going to visit the Victoria & Albert & The Museum of London while in London, and the Mary Rose Trust in Portsmouth? :eek:
The V&A can make their reserve collection available for examination if contacted well ahead & an appointment made. The Museum of London has 'heaps' of stuff from Roman thru WW2 that has been dug up from the Thames as well as various sites across the city.
The Mary Rose Trust has the Mary Rose (a big boat sunk in the early 1500's) and lots of wooden objects found inside when she was excavated.
Of course, you are not going to be able to cover much of any of these in a day, so perhaps you should just do a pub crawl so as to not make me jealous:p
Thanks Rocker and bsrlee. Sounds like the plan is the Mary Rose, followed by Winchester Cathedral. Don't really want to go into London and back out to Heathrow so the V&A may well have to wait, but thanks for the pointer. I wasn't aware of that museum, so will have to do some research to discover what they have.
So I shouldn't mention the Wallace Collection either? Major collection of 'Art' and other objects (Arms & Armour for me) - I think something over 20 galleries of it - in its original building - colected in the early 1800's thru to about 1900 by father & son, then 'donated to the Nation' in the early 1930's.
Or the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich?
