polishers Handbook

Hi ,

I read the area in the polishers Handbook regarding getting the best out of poly finishes. I have used Cabots CFP Satin on my Bench Tops. Should I continue as per the book and use the Wet and Dry at 600 Grit then move to 000 S/wool with Traditional Wax. Or is this not nessasary due to the "satin in the product".
Would a appriciate any pointers as I really would like the best finish I can, and would like to have a nicer feel to the tops.

If the finish is to shiney for your liking after using satin polyU yes use some W&D and S/wool then wax it.(u must ensure to wax, as your removing its surface weakening it in abrasion and UV protection). Try on some scraps 1st to see what grit/grade to run with!
Personaly dont go much on cabots CFP, Cabothane is a way better finish although it is a little softer.(flows out better/smoother)
CFP contains oil and is not the best stuff to recoat after curing fully, needs to be completely removed.

Cabots make a good quality product, I've tried several brands and found them the best so far for spray finishing(its all I ever do...).

Yeah I haven't been very happy with the product. Cabots are giving me a new tin due to solvent problems with the CFP. In retrospect I think it would have been wiser to go with Miniwax wipe on Poly, I was just worried about the durability. ( I just finished a chess board with the Wope on and waxed it off with Steel wool and it looks and feels great.

Give Cabots Carbothane a try, its good gear.
