Removing square safety symbols on glass doors

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to remove the square (and rectangular) safety symbols off sliding glass doors, presumably placed there to stop precious darlings (of which none are in permanent residence here) running thru the doors.

They look like they might be etched which I suppose makes removal difficult, although if I could a t least remove the white 'paint' it would be an improvement.

I want to remove them is because they look as tacky as the oversized black plastic square handles, which one day will be replaced with handmade wooden ones.

I think you will find it is part of the Oz Standards to have the paint on the sliding doors.

You might be able to polish it off exactly the same way car windscreens can be polished to remove marks etc.

Those squares do look ugly, don't they?

I have a set of doors, pre the PC era, without markings. After a couple of bottles of red plus - well never mind - I walked fair into one.

I'm not that precious, so happy to take the risk, and the broken nose and avoid those awful patterns.

Some of them are stick on type transfers, some are painted, some are etched. You have to ask yourself if it's worth the trouble to remove them and possibly leave a worse mess in their place?

Also, don't you ever have visitors?

How artistic are you?

Assuming they're etched, you could try buffing 'em out with jewellers' rouge, but I'm unsure whether that's a good idea with safety glass. IMHO it'd be a better idea to cut a stencil and do some creative etching over the top.

I'd also keep the stencil tucked away in a very safe place afterwardrs... even safety glass can break and I wouldn't want to try and recut a matching stencil from the bits'n'pieces...

Not really, it's too dangerous around here since I removed all the safety features:D :D

If removing a safety feature I would check where you stand with your public liability insurance. :o
