reverse door

I have a glass sliding door that i want to reverse, instead of sliding to the left to open i want it to slide to the right.

Has anyone ever tried to do this. Looks like it can be done, but it is going to be fiddely

Hope i have discribed this well enough, i have attached a pic of the door

Hi Readnik

I have done this several times.

Providing the frame is symetric what you need to do is take the styles of each door panel and turn them them upside down and fix them to the opposite side of the door panel.

You may have to cut a slot in the bottom which was the top of the style to clear the sliding track at the bottom and then you will have to swap the frame styles around.

It is a lot more difficult when the door is already fitted in the door opening so that means you will have to remove the door to do it.

Not a difficult job but fiddley.

I was looking at doing this myself and thought the door could be lifted out, the glass fixed panel in its frame, moved to the other side and the sliding door upended and fitted back to the opposite side along with the latch. Then do similar with the flyscreen slider. Apparently thats not feasible BW?

The problem with turning the doors upside down is the bottom rail is usually different to the top rail. The bottom rail is also usually milled out in places to take the track wheels.

The only way is to take the side styles off the doors and turn them upside down and swapping sides as well as turning the frame jambs upside down and swapping sides.
