Hi,
I've been reading a few of the older posts on these forums about roof restoration and wondered if anyone had any recent experiences to share (in Melbourne)?
Seems like the big players get a bad name here, is that still the same? I'm also wondering what the expected cost will be - our unit is two-storey, about 10sq downstairs and 6sq upstairs - and what the best products/applications are right now.

Hi and welcome to the forum! Could you post a couple of pics of the roof - it might suit colorbond replacement if you could bear the costs. The roof restoration places get a bad rap because some have been known to charge astronomical sums for a day's work. Personally I feel painted tiles always look fake, but I am not the one shelling out for the repairs! It may be a practical method for beautifying a home I guess, but I would be interested to see pics before I suggest anything........ not that I am any authority on such things, that is for certain! :D:D:D

Painted tiles will probably only last for about 7 years until they can begin to peel, as my friends has. The guarantee only lasts about the same time. It will be interesting to see what happens now with some parts peeling and some not if they repaint it.
Personally I wouldnt touch with a barge pole having tiles painted. I have seen some done where the moss hasnt been removed/killed on the ends of the tiles (possibly due to them being more porous there) only to grow back after painting and looking terrible.
