While participating in this forum I noticed (To paraphrase ALW) 'there seems to be a certain lack of enthusiasm for' Triton products. I get the impression that most of you feel that the Triton is OK and it is made in Australia but .......... And there's about a million reasons.
What prompts this query is that Triton seems to becoming available to US woodworkers. So the question is, In terms of quality, where are the Triton routers ranked in comparison to other brands?
The router is fine, what most people don't like is the workbench.
It is a starting point for a lot of people but when they get serious dedicated machinery is the go.
I believe that Triton make a good product, I used to have one and renovated a few houses with it's assistance but now I have a dedicated tablesaw, heavy and accurate, same for the router table, jointer etc etc etc.
Hand tools on benches have their limitations and can also be noisy plus there is the setting up aspect which becomes a real pain in the bum, but, as I said, it is a good honest reliable set up for starting out with or just knocking about with on occassion.
Afterthought.......what other brands are there that are similar?????
The Triton router is terrific. The big one is especially suited for table use. It has built in through the table bit changing.Quote:

Triton gear is generally fairly well made imo. A lot of people on this board started out with the work centre (sort of a table saw) but after a while its limitations become apparent and most have moved to using a true table saw.

The Triton work centre is a good, cheap way of getting into a table saw - especially if your Dad gives you his old circular saw like mine did. A 'real' table saw is better ... but I couldn't have afforded one and so wouldn't have got started at all. As for moving up? Well, my Triton is doing all I want of it.:D

I still have my Triton workbench and accessories and has helped build a couple of boats and house renos....Big plus is its portable and easy to store away when not wanted. The triton router and saw I dont have so cant comment

The triton machines, circular saw, routers etc are fantastic quality and there is very rarely much complaint with them.
The big triton router is brilliant. The circular saw is brilliant.

The reason that I had asked is that someone here was considering a Triton router. I had confused the work bench issue with the entire product line. Thanks for setting me straight on the issue. I wouldn't want to tell some one that the router was a piece of poop when it isn't.

dont forget that the 1400w router has above the table adjustment.
