Plaster repair =- roof

Hi Everyone
Thanks everyone for assisting non-tradies like me.

I have had ceiling fans installed and the surrounding plaster looks terrible from light heat I assume.
Is anyone able to advise how I can repair the plaster around the light fitting prior to painting?

First thing is check with a straight edge to see if any of the affected area is higher than the surrounds, if it is you need to remove any high spots.
Next check if there is any loose flaking material, any loose material should be removed first.
Once you have a solid base use an air drying topping compound to fill any low spots.
It is best to feather the topping compound out onto the surrounding area, if there is any chance the ceiling has contaminants eg kitchen or bathroom then a sugar soap wash is recommended before repairs.

Once all of the above is done, this is an economical product for a decent finish, and sandable, if you don't have a lot else to fix up.

its also a job that will a WHOLE lot easier with out the fan in the way.

I'd consider either getting an eleco to remove it entirely while you do the repairs. or at the very least unplug the connectors and leave the base in the roof so you're not working around the blades
