What do I call this internal thingie

Can anybody here help me with the engineering name for this SHS cam joiner. Cecile wants a vertical fabric holder and I'd like to know how strong these things would be bolting though some thick plywood. The bolt is a 5/16th Grade 3 and it goes inside 20mm SHS
