We've picked up a fibre glass free standing bath for a great price. Only now as I am about to install it have we noticed why we got it at the bargain price. Half the under carriage is missing. It used to have a metal bracket at each end with screw down legs. Used to. One is missing. What have you all used to support under a bath previously? Bricks was my first thought. Any objections?
I've never installed a bath so bear that in mind.
You could consider making up something. That could be difficult, and if it's on show you might prefer not to do that. Change it from free standing to one that's enclosed by tiles and let it sit on a mud base (mortar). Or sell it on. I doubt bricks would be a good idea at all.
So it bears around the lip on the timber frame and underneath make up a pad of mortar. Don’t be tempted to use expanding foam.
Copy one of the remaining legs to replace the missing one. This way it will be supported as the manufacturer designed it to be.Quote:

i ended up packing the space where the old leg was supposed to be with strips of conveyor belt. we use it for horse fencing as the buggers bounce off it rather than breaking something solid and damaging themselves. the belts are are cut to 100mm wide so i just cut a bunch and stacked them across under the bath in the spot where the old leg was.
