Used Kitchen Appliances

This question is relevant to Sydney for obvious reasons. We are replacing some kitchen appliances from two kitchens. They are two gas cooktops and an oven all in excellent condition and I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how I could donate them rather than throwing them away at the tip. The more mainstream organisations don't accept kitchen appliances which I can sort of understand so is the option just to dispose of the appliances and be done with it. I guess I could put them in the freebie part of this website when they are finally removed.

I'm finding appliances increasing harderto give way. We replaced our fridge freeze pair last year after the freezer died, and had a really hard time giving the still working fridge away. Gumtree and Face book market place are full of "Free" appliances. I even offered to sweeten the giveaway by offering free delivery (I have a van) within 10km radius of my place. In the end one of my nephews took the fridge and I delivered it - 23km away.

My experience with the free giveaways on the WWF Market place has been poor. Being closer to more people you should have more luck although I suspect anything gas these days will be difficult. I tried giving away a quality gas cook top a few years back advertising it in many different places but did not even get one sniff. In the end I put it onto the verge side pick up and someone took the stainless steel and brass bits obviously for scrap.

BTW Good Sammys will take any working electrical appliances that have a current 240V plug (the plugs with the insulated lower pin halves). This just dates the appliance s being of a certain or younger). I know this does not apply to your situation but just added it in for completeness.

A refrigerator with a "free" sign sat on the footpath for 3 weeks. When the sign was changed to $50 it went overnight!

Sometimes you can get old appliance taken away when the new appliances are delivered.
Have tried giving away perfectly good plug in appliances to charities but they won’t take them. Guess too much risk.

It looks like they are going to the tip, how times and attitudes have changed. When we got married we went to the tip and found our first living room carpet because we had no money.

Even when they demolish homes these days the appliances go in the scrap, because the have no resale value.

When we were first married we had an ex army rubber field water tank with a canvas cover for the first 18 months until we could afford a proper water tank

Decluttering the house after Amanda passed away and have disposed of a few Appliances, most of these are ex-MILs that Amanda had not disposed of.

Good Sammys have taken:
Kettle
Wii
Pedestal Lamp
Warming plate

Gave away (had wrong plug so Good Sammys would not take them)
Foot bath
Electric Wok
Bread maker
Toaster
Electric BBQ

Sold on Gum tree
1949 Singer electric sewing machine
Kenwood chef
Lapidary gear (saw, tumbler and lapping wheel)

Plus heaps of furniture, camping gear, bric-a-brac, sports gear,, CDs/DVDs, linen, kitchen stuff, horse riding stuff, clothing, books, etc
6 sheep and an alpaca fleece.
I'm up to 160+ boxes/bags of stuff gone to op shops, plus another 20 or so to my sons place.
4 wheels bins of paper to recycling
I have not touched Amanda's recent clothing or shoes or her craft and sewing stuff.
Unless people look inside cupboards etc it looks like I have not removed a thing.
