Hi from Sydney
Hi all
I have been woodworking since just before COVID, as my cycling ambitions faded with age. I don't think I am alone in saying that I have studied at the school of YouTube under the guidance of teachers like Cosman, Sellers, all the way to that sweary English Woodworker (Richard Maguire).
I would call myself a hybrid woodworker using power tools to prepare and dimension stock, and do the tedious tasks like resawing. However, I love hand tool work, the satisfaction of seeing a hand-made joint, adjusting your focus and seeing nothing but the gaps.
I have an impossibly small shop so the projects tend to be similarly small - boxes mainly. My last project was a jewellery box for my daughter in mahogany (plantation grown in Fiji), but I do prefer to use Australian timbers where possible.
Anyway, I'll mostly be drilling the forums for tips, hints and other ideas to plagiarise.

Now with photos
Hi all
Here is the jewellery box in mahogany. The drawer sides and trays are Victorian Ash, and dividers have woolen felt (my felt skills need work). Finish, after sanding to 400 grit and then 0000 steel wool, is two coats of Organoil Danish Oil (a locally made product) and then a layer of home-made paste wax.
