Stain under Osmo top oil

Can anyone recommend a stain to put under Osmo PolyX Top oil for Oregon? Oil or water based? I’m so new to this and getting confused!

All good. I finally got hold of an Osmo rep who told me only use an oil / spirit based stain underneath.
