Hello from Melbourne
Hi guys,
I go under the nickname "aeroden" for my hobbies. I'm in greater Melbourne (high-five lockdown survivors!). I'm in early 40-ies, been 4 years in AU and it's my 3rd country to live in - I'm a serial migrant so to speak :)
I work in IT but I like to tinker with things and enjoy building things myself. Woodworking is one of the more developed of my tinkering skills but I did a couple of electronics projects, maintained my motorbike for quite some time; one day I hope to get into metalworking and into blacksmithing. Did some woodturning as a teen, then a had a long 20+ years pause till I got my own shed. I attended a men shed before COVID - absolutely great experience and still in touch with the guys; though it took me a couple of years to discover they exist :) - seems no one of my generation here ever heard about them; even Aussie born&bread dudes.
A couple of notable things I've built so far:
King bed (my COVID project) - King Bed making - Album on Imgur
Hanukia - jewish candle holder - Hanukia - Album on Imgur
Table and stools set for my then 5yo - Table and chair set - Album on Imgur
Looking forward to chat with you guys!

Welcome mate!
I'm almost like you... early 40s, moved to AU 8 years ago, work in IT/digital marketing. As I get older I find more joy tinkering with my hands instead of my computer :D
Ditto on the blacksmithing which I also hope to get into. Nothing more manly than forging your own sword in the backyard!
