Is that a grogan joke? NO, I get it now. :D
HMAS Baudin?
Baudin was a french explorer who lead the Baudin expedition (1800-03) and it was said in part was to prepare a report for Napoleon on ways to invade and capture the British colony at Sydney Cove.
HMAS Frog Legs?
Rgds,
Crocy.
HMAS Rainbow Warrior?
HMAS Wellington
HMAS Hillsong
I just saw on youtube it should be called - Ji Xinping - that way it couldn't possibly be attacked.
The Collins Class subs were named after RAN heroes, only one of whom (HMAS Sheanan) was an able seaman.
Perhaps Australia's new nuclear subs should be named after politicians
How about
HMAS Morrison, ship's motto "Never my responsibility"
HMAS Joyce, ship's motto "back to wreck havoc"
HMAS Payne, ship's motto "I'm the adult in this room"
HMAS Frydenberg, ship's motto "Waiting my turn"
HMAS Andrews, ship's motto "How I wish ..."
HMAS Dutton, ship's motto "Defence was my goal"
HMAS Porter, ship's motto "I will get there"
HMAS Albanese, ship's motto "I was sidelined"
I'm sure some of us could have a bit of fun with this.
HMAS "Ne regrette rien."
or
HMAS "Unsub."
Regards
Paul
PS: I do like the French Connection by Alex. Maybe "Rainbow Warrior 2." (3, 4, 5, 6 etc) Just don't leave it unattended.
HMAS Scotty the Follower
HMAS Murdoch son
Maybe I’m being to one sided [emoji45]
HMAS Steven Bradbury: "the last one standing"
HMAS Lionel Murphy "my little mate"
HMAS Joh Bejike Peterson "dont you worry about that"
HMAS Russ Hinze "The submarine for everything"
HMAS JeNeSaisQuoi - "boldly going around in circles"
Let's face it, with 3 countries involved, and 3 elected leaders that will change multiple times over the period of the build, I'd rate the chances of anything even remotely "submarine-shaped" appearing at the end of the process to be close to zero. At some point, one of the parties to the agreement will undoubtedly proclaim that thy don't want to play any more, and we'll be back to square one. Given the massive scale of recent defence procurement incompetence, I propose that in future they only be allowed to choose from glossy catalogues of hardware that is actually available, off the shelf, right now. "We'll have 32 of those please, but do they come in different colours".
I can't help thinking that the whole world has got it wrong. All countries seem to be tooling up for some confrontation coming up. BIG Dollars are being spent etc etc Why not put all the resources together and promote peace.....wouldn't that has afar better outcome?
not a worry, should one of the UK or US pull out, AUS will just have to eat humble pie and go back to building the French sub. After all, the French sub was originally nuclear powered -- it's just that Australia in their wisdom was replacing the really quite nuclear reactor with a "noisy" diesel engine and batteries. The core problem is that without nuclear power, any sub built in Australia is limited in range and suffers from an unacceptable "indiscretion rate' -- the time spent near the surface recharging its batteries
