We also know who the masters are and who the staff are....don't we.....

I'm at an appointment with my allergist. I said that my kid wanted to get a cat. A one word answer, "Don't". We then progressed to talking about the dog. Knowing where it is going and the allergist being tactful, asks "Is the dog a member of the family?" I looked at him and said, "No. The dog is the head of household."

ITRW, the meaning of life etc. goes like this.
You get married and you are the most important thing in your wife's eyes.
You have a kid or two. Naturally the kids are more important thing in your wife's eyes.
Your wife gets a dog. The dog is now the most important thing in your wife's eyes.
You send the kids off to college. And this really hurts.
The kid comes home from college and the first thing he kisses is the dog.
