The Irony of it all.

Finally I have got my workshop to the standard I want and where it is a pleasant place to either work or sit down and ponder on what I should be doing. I should be glad but unfortunately I haven’t had time to be in there for the last :eek: 2 weeks.


Time has caught up with me and I have had to work in the garden, pruning (still wood related :D ) and cleaning up and now building the new garden bed to finish of the front garden. This garden bed has been in the planning stage and on the to do list for about 2 years and now has caught up to me.

When finished the next job will be to fix up the BBQ area. This means altering it a bit, painting, installing shade cloth under the fiberglass roof for extra shade and building a deck in it.

The irony of it all is that for these jobs I don’t need a workshop. All I need is a CS, drill, tape measure, level, hammer and a couple of sawhorses.

May be I should rent out my workshop for a while.:rolleyes:

I can really sympathise!

I guess that's why I don't get too excited about having so many half completed projects in mine! Maybe after I've finished the dust extraction I'll have to start mowing too.. :eek: :eek: :eek: .

Perhaps you could start upgrading the workshop now, changing all the lovely white painted stuff for french polished silver ash. That would keep the nasty domestic chores at bay for a few years at least!

I sympathise Peter. Since I've retired I have spent less time in my workshop than when I was working.
SWMBO has loaded me down with jobs on the basis of "You've got plenty of time for your woodwork now you've retired, so do a few jobs for me".
I think I mentioned "Tic Tack" in another post. I tick one off the top of the list and SWMBO tacks one on the bottom. :(

It's funny how fate turns out. I've been spending every weekend working on the new house and have had no shed time at all.

Last weekend, I spent two days rendering the edge of a slab and consequently stuffed my back. This culminated in a total lockup on Tuesday and it's only just starting to come good. The chiro has said no to my suggestion that I'll be ready for another gruelling weekend.

It looks like I'm banned from the site this weekend, so I'm going to spend the time building a couple of bathroom vanities instead.

So, my advice Peter, is to do your back in ;)

I don't think that would work, I've stretched it for as long as I can. It seems a shame as these jobs don't need to be as accurate as I could do in the workshop.

If the rectangular garden bed made out of sleepers is out a couple centimetres it just adds character.:eek:

I can relate too. Setting up the workshop is probably the biggest WW project. Once you’ve finished it you think there is nothing else to do.

Termite - a possible solution to your Tick/Tack problem - before performing the 'Tick' operation, just write a few woodie tasks to the bottom of the list, then they will come before the next task 'Tack' -ed on.
