Can Makita fit with DeWalt?

Hi all,
I'm glad to join your forum.
Currently I'm building a self watering raised garden bed, from some beautiful old timber I had.
I recently bought a dewalt mitre saw, but due to good reviews, am wanting to get a makita dust extractor. But will they fit together? Not easily it seems. Anybody sorted this issue before? Ideas?

May I suggest you start a new thread in the general section including some model numbers & photos,
as you'll get a lot more views & thus potential answers to your question, Cheers....

I think anything you try will be a bit agricultural. I have a two different portable dust extraction systems.

Triton work station from 20 years ago and current model Festool
I also have an odd hose from a old Bosch sander.

I use the different sized hoses and duct tape to create a temporary solution. Eg a tool I don’t use often and a task I don’t do often. It I am doing a repetitive task and dust extraction such as sanding paint I have replaced tools to have a proper connection.

I have a friend who made adapters with different sized short pvc pipes, short flexible pipes and hose clamps to secure different systems.

Measure the tools and then go down to a car shop like supercheap where you can play in their radiator hose section for a while. I found success matching hitatchi and makita to a festool vacuum that way.

I had not thought about radiator hose but it sounds practical. PVC pipe can be persuaded to fit with a bit of heat and some use 3D printers to make connectors. Clamps and tape can not be overlooked either.

You can also try a shop that sells cleaning equipment. I bought an adaptor for my Makita compound saw that the Festool hose fits in.

Thanks all, for your welcome & for your ideas. Lots of tips & tricks to keep in mind.

Despite talking to both Makita & DeWalt, who thought the two tools wouldn't fit together, it turned out a rubber adaptor nozzle in my newly acquired Makita vaccum cleaner box, did the job... well good enough.

I'll send a photo of my work in progress once I can work out how to attach it.
