Although I am an AFL stalwart, I do believe this is the beginning of the rise of World Football in Ozstralia.......come on in I say, plenty of room for all.........doubtful though, that it could ever rip me away from the excitement, toughness and pace of AFL.........oh, and the ever dulcet tones and ramblings of one 'Rex Hunt'!:D
Aussie Aussie Aussie...
:d :d :d :d :d :d :d :d
No - what happened!!???
I didn't watch it as I figured I'd do a Jow104 and jinx them.
I crossed over the last time in the 73rd minute when it was still 1:0.
"Either Uruguay will score or it'll be a penalty shootout" I thought to myself.
"Eitrher way, my bloodpressure can't stand it." So I went to bed :D
Well done 'straya :D
Well done Australia.
I don't take an interest in soccer so I didn't watch it but I was happy my country won a world class match whether it be soccer, cricket, croquet or chess.
Oh rats, I must have missed those. What channel was the chess on ?;) :)Quote:

Dunno, I missed them too.
I happened to turn it on when they were playing the Uruguay national anthem I couldn't believe the booing from the crowd. My first thought was that it was totally un-Australian and I was really embarrased. But having heard the way they carry on in Uruguay, maybe they were just giving it back to them. Things like the fact that the players were being kicked and abused in the tunnel while waiting to come on to the field. Abuse from thugs in Uruguay and the disresepct from that crowd over there.

2006 might just be the year of the underdogs :)
Anyways, at least now after a year or two in the wilderness, SBS can resume it's proper role in the world.
Soccer Broadcasting Service.

Maybe they could condense it all down into 10 minutes, and just have penalty shoot outs?
