Finishing Process (order) advice please

Hi Guys,

I have nearly completed a side table which has frame and panel construction and before I glue up I thought I would seek advice on the best order of the glue/stain/finishing process.

I am concerned about getting even staining (especially in the hard to get and corners).

Option 1 - Glue up, sanding sealer (cut down white shellac), stain, finish
Option 2 - sanding sealer (cut down white shellac), glue up, stain, finish
Option 3 - sanding sealer (cut down white shellac), stain, glue up, finish
or any other suggestions?

If i get sanding sealer on the glue joints before the glue up, would the glue joint be weaker (using TBIII)?
If i get stain on the glue joints before the glue up, would the glue joint be weaker (using TBIII) ?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I always apply at least one coat of finish before gluing up a F&P project. I mask all areas that will be glued before finishing to prevent the finish interfering with the glue joint. I can wipe excess glue off with a damp rag and not worry about the glue sealing the wood and affecting the finish.

I don't use stain, but if I did I would also do it before assembly. Then one or more coats of finish. Lightly sand all parts, glue up and more finish coats if required.
