G'day from Margate, Tasmania
Hi everyone
This is a great forum with a great community. Very glad I joined.
I inherited all my Pa's old hand tools about a year ago but had no idea what to do with them so started looking for information on how to restore and sharpen them. I found a few videos on YouTube and, as is quite often the case on YouTube, it led me to go off on all sorts of YT 'tangents', as one does, until I came across hand tool wood working and a few of the well known teachers on there.
What more can I say...I'm hooked! What a lucky coincidence for me as it's opened up a whole new world and lifestyle for me. E.g. my TV died months ago, and I still haven't replaced it :)
I've made dovetail boxes, wooden trays and a few other small gifts for my family. I'm now learning how to make housing dados and mortise and tenon joints by making bookshelves for my sons. Next will be carcass construction and hopefully a tool cabinet.
Anyway, I'm a 'noob', but a very enthusiastic one, and love to learn the methods of traditional hand tool woodworking.
All the best
Adam
