Hello from Te Awamutu, New Zealand

Hi there
I stumbled across this forum while google searching for info about the triton MK3 new series saw and router table I bought, I am only just getting back into messing around with wood after not doing it properly since I left school. I am slowly building up and upgrading my gear as I go along. Most of my power tools are ryobi (rebate planer, random orbital, mitre saw stand, 500w drill), ozito (210mm sliding mitre saw and power x-change18v cordless drill) and a makita 185mm circular saw which is currently mounted in the triton till the 235mm saw I bought arrives which is an older ryobi, I am mainly making items such as potato storage boxes out of untreated pallets and whatever other things that I get any ideas of trying.

Welcome to the forum Skilsaw. I was in your beautiful country a few months ago and paid a visit to the Hamilton Gardens not far from you. Very impressive.

No worries mate the Hamilton gardens are not far from where I work as I am involved with the construction of the expressway project in Hamilton as a dump truck operator so tinkering with wood is my time to get my mind off them damn trucks lol. I too was in your country back in 2012 harvesting wheat in northern NSW and southern QLD. Here is one of my gaudy looking projects I recently finished using a circular saw, rebate planer, compound mitre saw and sander, the handle I plaited out of sisal rope now I have friends and family asking me to make them a bin as well but I want to get them perfect first also I am currently building a woodwork bench where I used old pallet bearers as the legs plus I have to start planning to build a stand for a wood lathe as my stepfather offered me the one he bought brand new 20 years ago and he never even started the bloody thing.

Something rustic like that will appeal to a lot of people. Good luck with the lathe as turning can be quite addictive especially when friends see what you can make and start putting in their orders.

I have only ever used a wood lathe a whole of 3 times and that was at school, I will probably look at the damn thing when it arrives and think where the heck do I start and look back on the disastrous results 30 odd years ago lol.
