Water marks on Kwila...

Hi All - Ive come across a situation with Kwila showing up water marks on table tops ... glass and cup rings etc What's best practise to avoid this problem? :(

Cabots Aqudeck water base oil stain has been used.

Coasters and placemats?

Try oil based stains. I think merbau is a oily timber and oil based would do better I think.

Was the Kwila allowed to weather before finishing? If not, the tannin left in the timber may be leaching whenever something wet comes into contact with the wood.
