I get annoyed when I hear a newsreader say, "The car lost control"
when speaking of an accident. It should be the driver and not the car.
Also they are rarely accidents.
The only time something is really an accident is when there's no attributable cause.
Using the term accident suggests that no one was to blame.
Most so called traffic accidents are not accidents but incidents, Italians use the term "incidente" which makes more sense.
