Osmo over epoxy

Hi there, I'm filling large holes in recycled messmate with Diggers casting resin and nail holes with black timbermate. Anyone have experience with Osmo over these products? Will there be any "shine" from the filled holes after the final finish ? Any tips appreciated. Thanks

Stephenw111 - Did you get any response from anyone, or did you have a crack at your project. Doing somethign simaliar myself, would love to know the answer!

No response here but I called Osmo Australia and the guy said shouldn't be a problem. Osmo would cover it ok. He did say though that he used a "West System" (google it) epoxy and found that to be good. Hope yours goes well. Be interested to hear your outcome. And Il let you know how I go .

I've done a lot of this (like 8L of epoxy, 475lm of Marri and 6L of Osmo) in the last couple of months with both the West System and 5 min Araldite. The epoxy filled voids in both instances take on the same sheen as the rest of the timber. No problems at all.

It's a bit shiny after the first coat (I'm using Raw effect on the first coat) where the Osmo is penetrating into the wood around it more but after the final coat (semimatte) which forms a film over the whole lot, it looks exactly the same gloss level. Bit hard to see in the pic but you get the idea.

I’m about to use Osmo oil over west system 207 (clear). Any photos or thoughts based on your experience, I notice that this thread is around one year old now.

It’s really a non issue. Epoxy, sand, oil. No dramas.

Thanks for the tip, I’ve used the UV Osmo oil and it has worked really well. I’m amazed how good it looks. Whether the clear resin lasts as long as under varnish will be something I keep an eye on.
