How the fight started

The light on the fridge says, "Order filter soon".

SWMBO says, "Go to Home Depot" and get a filter. If they are less than $50, get two."

I come home with two filters. SWMBO asks, "How much were they?". I answer, "$49.99."

And that is how the fight started.

Try immigrating to Australia, it would be easier than arguing that one.

If a woman sends a man to buy ANYTHING (other than something for the man to use or eat, and that he wants) it is in the man's best interest to NOT get the order right. If you establish a reputation for bringing home the right thing you will find yourself being sent on more and more errands which will eat into valuable shed time.

It is very important to establish very early in a relationship that you cannot be relied upon to return with the right item. It is even more important to make it known that this is because she cannot explain what she wants clearly, and not due to any shortfallings in your ability to understand.

"Darling its probably best if you go and get it yourself rather than me going and getting something that matches what you tell me you want but is not what you need. I know you try your best to describe it but it is a waste of time and money if you don't get it right."

I've suggested that. I'm ready to emigrate to Perth. I figure it is about the furthest I can get from Washington D.C. and still hear English. :)
