Maintaining the finish
Hi,
I have a nice Maple and Jarrah bed, wonderfully sanded, polished and oiled to a satin finish. It was made by a furniture shop (just starting out myself and I needed a bed). They recommend oiling it once a year with simple, non-building oil.
The shop mentioned sheridan oil or something like that but I can't find that anywhere. All the stuff in Bunnings/Magnet Mart seems to have urethane or tung oil in them, not suitable. I finally picked up a bottle of "Feast Watson's Funiture Polish", but I'm still not sure if it's the right stuff.
Can anyone give me some advice please? It's a very nice and expensive bed that I want to look after.

Gilly Stephenson in WA make an Orange Oil which I think would suit your needs (buy direct from their website or available at some hardware stores).
UBeaut (sponsor of this BB) also probably have a similar product.
Having said that, it might pay you to contact the manufacturer and ask them exactly what oil finish did they used, then use that or something compatible.

Thanks JB.
The manufacturer uses mirrortone oil (same as the lacquer they use). It is dear though, so they suggest any silicone free, non building oil (i.e. not tung oil).
Thanks again.

Since Neil supplies this forum for us to use for free, how about giving his excellent products a try, as JB rightly suggests.
