More Queensland windows

I have been asked to turn a pair of windows brought from Queenland into a "piece of furniture without losing their charm"............. :yes:
After a bit of discussion and negotiation, some of which I remember, the decision was that I would make the furniture which would be sympathetically distressed and the client will (minimally) restore the windows which will become the doors.
Work started today and I did the first fit up before leaving the shed tonight...

The frame went together very quickly but I needed to let the client see what I had in mind, so..

..... I clamped the windows .... uhhm doors.... onto the face and laid an old tabletop on top to represent the recycled kauri pine floorboards that will be used. (The blocks under the windows are just belt-and-bracing the clamps)
The client "loves it" and apparently I am "a gem"! :roll:

Threat or promise??.............DON"T DO IT.............its time the younger gen got off their peverted round about of having our generation still changing their nappies wiping their Butts and tears.

.... is a little "too distressed" and I will need to do a bit of work on it if I want to retain my gem status :doh:!

I got these 1" X 4" kauri pine floorboard shorts from my favourite recycler today and now wish I had one of Fencefurniture's purTING machines to get all of the nails out.
For those wondering about the economics or being foolish enough to consider making one themselves, the 5 metres of 66x42 treated pine cost $80, the 6mm plywood for the walls cost $70 AND 8 metres of recycled kauri pine floorboards cost $117. A grand total of about $250 ...... so far!
In THIS case, the client provided the windows but, if you need to buy them, I have seen good ones for sale at about $500?

So, I use my metal detector, pincers, hollow drill and nail punches and remove THIS MANY nails from one length of flooring.....

Great job. I'm looking forward to seeing the final product. The only person I know of that enjoys denailing is the same bloke who sharpens the blade in his Stanley knife...

By by the time my taste buds drove me from the shed, I had glued up the sides, denailed, edged and cut the floor boards to length...

Glued and and clamped them as a 3 and 4 (I wish I had a wider hicknesser but.....?)

and then, after a few hours and after first trying the drum sander and wondering where the burning smell was coming from, I put them through the thicknesser and then glued and clamped the dresser top...

Im very pleased with the degree of distress and, depending on the weather tomorrow, I might even get the top WOP'd and the cabinet painted?

Didnt realise that many people knew Fence Furniture!:D

Just like the Balinese daybed, this client wants to paint it themselves and, unlike the daybed, I think I will let them this time?
So, other than buying and fixing the hinges and making and fitting the tabletop 'buttons', I'm just about finished.
