glued vs unglued edging for melamine board? whats better?

as you may know I was looking for an edgebander, but I have just found out that I can get glued edging and make my own application machine with hotair gun.
so my thought is now to make my own edger and get this preglued edging of 2mm ABS for my boards.
would this work the same as unglued and using an edger to glue it on?
only costs 11c per meter more to get the edging glued.
