Fixing plaster arch to rendered wall

Hi everyone,

I wish to fix a decorative plaster arch to internal walls which are rendered. A couple of questions ...

1) Is cornice cement the best adhesive for this purpose?

2) Is there any easier way of keeping the arch in situ whilst the cement goes off other than standing for an extended period with my hands up over my head?

I've read where ceiling roses/cornice can be temporarily fixed in place with nails/screws but this would be a little difficult with rendered walls. I also can't think of any easy way to prop it up either due to the irregular shape. As I have to marry two pieces in the middle (to make the arch), I need them to stay in position else I will run into even bigger problems ....

If the arch is in so many pieces,why not dispense with the existing pieces,and just re do it altogether?I think that would be easier.....set up an arc bead on each side,and fill er up.This would be the easiest solution if the corners are square,but if they are round I don't think there is a n arch bead for that.But if you must reuse the old bits,cornice adhesive is the go.is it possible to strap the pieces up with something like that plastic packing strap,and nail it in to the bricks above?Or can you just put up a couple of pieces at a time, and prop them from the floor?

It's a new plaster arch (twin corner peices that together make up the arch) that I'm attaching to a square archway. I've removed the old wooden fretwork previously.

The plaster arch is square to fit the corners however I can't think of a way to easily hold it in position whilst the cornice cement goes off. Nailing into brickwork isn't as easy as plasterboard and as I said before, propping it up will be difficult due to it's shape.

Use 2' masking tape to the walls to hold it up till the glue sets
