Our five-year-old grandson launched himself off the end of neighbour's
porch. This resulted in a split forehead, a fractured left arm and
bruises on his stomach and both of his knees.
After returning from the hospital emergency room, his mom asked him
what he had learned about jumping off porches.
"I can't do it again," he replied, "until the cast comes off."
If, that is a true story.....I love the little dude. Take my hat off to him.
Smart kid.

He's probably worked out what he did wrong and can't wait to test his theory.

when my now 28-year-old son was five, he broke his arm just above the elbow (fell out of neighbor's tree-house). He came running into the house swinging his arm around like a helicopter, rejoicing in its new range of mobility, while still in shock of course, calling out "Hey Dad - look what I can do!".Quote:

I have two boys, now in their mid forties. The youngest one could not walk up a 1M wide hallway without bouncing off each wall several times. Needless to say he is a klutz.
I'm covering the popcorn ceiling with a flat latex paint. He comes home from the park with a broken arm. It is a Sunday and the ER is about a 50 mile round trip.
A year or two later, some how he broke his arm on Friday but didn't say anything. It's Saturday and he is helping me dig out a stump of a tree that was removed. He is really complaining that his arm is hurting. I feel his arm and if I touch it he really complains. When did this starting hurting I ask. "Yesterday after falling off my bicycle." He explains something about rolling down a neighbor's driveway standing on the seat. The ER is about a 50 mile round trip.
Another couple of years later, we're digging out another stump. His hand hurts. How long? Since yesterday. What were you doing? I punched Jeff in the back of the head. The ER is about a 50 mile round trip.
Many years later, after Tommy John surgery and a torn ligament in his knee, I get a call from the ER. Dislocated shoulder and he needs someone to go to the football (soccer) field, get his truck and drive it home. This ER was only about 20 miles round trip. This scene was repeated two more times.
The kid will be 46 next month. And no, sometimes they never learn.
As I told our kids, Rrich, no blood, no sympathy.
My ex cooked great holiday meals. As my wife was putting Thanksgiving dinner on the table my twelve year old son came in thinking his arm was broken. For some reason he had thought setting up a six foot ladder in the grass in the middle of the yard and standing on the top of it was a good idea. For some reason the neighbor's three year old thought pushing the ladder over was a good idea.
Arriving home to already leftover Thanksgiving dinner a few hours later I told my son it was a good thing his arm was broken or I would have broken his neck!
