G'Day from Central NSW
G'day,
I'm semi-retired live on a bush block north of Orange and occupy myself with way too many hobbies:rolleyes: working with wood being one of them.
I've pottered with wood ever since I was high enough to reach the bench in my old man's shed way back when.
Do a range of knick-knacks for local gift shops using wood from recycled shipping pallets but purely on a hobby basis for a bit of beer money.:B
I've dabbled in carving - mostly stylised native animals, wombats, lizards etc, mostly from native timber and I am hoping the forum may allow me to learn more about carving and finishing techniques.
Cheers Derek

You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you keep showing your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP [Work In Progress] photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork......
Cheers crowie
PS - Derek, You handiwork is beautiful sir and deserves it's own thread in the subsections not just here.....

Welcome Derek. The third pic of the Echidna is just an excellent piece of work - such a good thought process went into using that burl!
-
Welcome & I have to agree with FF, that echidna is fantastic.
