Has anyone had any experience with bamboo flooring that is prefinished???
I am curious as to how hard it was to lay (stuff I am looking at is t and g and endmatched- glued straight to the concrete and also how it has stood up to the test of time

We have done a resturnat about three months ago, it went down pretty easy and quick the brand that we used went togerther neatly and did not show the joints between the boards.
I do not do Dirct stick unless i have too. just lay 12mm ply then lay the flooring over it, this allows you to secret nail the flooring and that holds the boards until the glue goes off.
Hi Stu. I am a bamboo flooring dealer based in Geelong vic.
The hardest flooring in the bamboo is the strand woven it has a janka rating of
15.3 which makes it twice as hard as jarra which is rated at 8.5.
Horizontal and vertical bamboo flooring rates about the same as jarra.
If you are laying over a slab and the moisture content is over 5 percent you need to apply a moisture barrier. The moisture barrier is is applied with a roller
and takes no time at all to apply. No need for the extra expence of putting down

We laid compressed pre finished bamboo about 18 months ago. The floor has some pretty high wear and tear areas with a 5 & 3 y/o using the house as a race track for cars and trucks. The floor still looks fantastic with very few marks. We laid directly onto the slab but sealed the slab first as the mosture content was a bit too close for comfort. We got ours through "Its Bamboo" in Subiaco but there were other suppliers down here but their product didnt seem as good. Its also amusing watching a dog try to take off and lose traction on the stuff, tea time is fun for this effect. Hope this helps you out a bit.

I also like the look of the bamboo. Was it very expensive? Approx. costs for supply only and laid would be appreciated.

Not sure if you were asking me mrsxtro, but ours was about $90 square which I laid. All glue was supplied and they were happy for you to watch their layers put the stuff down in as many jobs as you wanted. Good to get some hints from the pros.Quote:
