As the title suggests my sent items option in the private emailing section says there is nothing in it. Even though I have sent numerous emails.
Is there a special trick to this that I do not know about?
Any advice appreciated.

So, you click on Private Messages on the menu bar above, then Sent Items and there are no Sent messages, is that correct?
Are you sure you have sent some messages and you haven't cleared your Sent Items?
BTW You are talking about "emails" but I am assuming you mean Private Messages or PMs.
If however you have clicked on a forum members' name and clicked on Send Email, that Email will be in your email Outbox or Sent Mail box.
Do you have "Save sent messages" ticked in General settings? The last one on the page below.

Treecycle, that was a good tip I think. "Save sent messages" was unticked. Have changed it now.
