At what steel beam size do you need to bring in a crane?

Hi there

I am in the process of determining what internal walls I can remove on a 4x2 double brick tile house built in the 80s.

An engineer has visited and I will get a report in a while.

One option to avoid leaving a post in a area is to have one long beam spanning the house at 8m, or leave the pole with two beams reaching it at approx 4M.

The spot is about 10M into the middle of the house from the front wall.

I suspect a crane will increase costs quite alot, with it mobing and demobing etc.

I realise in any case the roof tiles in those parts of the roof will have to come off for either option - Genie Lift?
