Tree removal approval for extension

Hey Guys,

My wife and I want to extend our house further out the back but notice that there are a few trees that would need to go in order for us to do so. Kuringai Council have been a real pain to deal with regarding tree removal even though we have more trees on our land than the the rest of the street combined.

Is it easier to get permission for tree removal if it is required as a part of an extension or would we face the same troubles?
