need a bit of information on framing walls.

I have been watching a few framing videos lately, one guy uses a template to mark studs. it lines up 3 at a time then he moves it on and lines it up again, He will first lay his plates together, mark in any doors and windows first then use the template and start from one side of the wall, but when he gets to a king stud for a door or window that is within 450mm, he will move the template up to this and reset the stud layout and keep reseting whenever another king stud is within 450, he says it saves time and timber. but im thinking when they go to plaster, the studs may not line up to the end of the board because of this resetting?

another guy marks in all his studs first then marks his windows and doors, and any studs marked within the window will be converted to criples. - this way seems to make sense to me even though there may be a bit of extra timber used ( 2 studs within 450 of each other) atleast the platerboard will go smoothly,

are there other ways to do this layout, just curious. thank you for any replies.
